NiHiCalm

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2026

NiHiCalm does not ask you to sign up, and does not ask for your real name, email or phone number. This policy explains what the app stores and shares.

Anonymous account and display name

When you first go online, the app creates an anonymous account through Supabase with a random user ID. It also gives you a randomly generated display name, which you can change. Please don't use your real name, as this name is public (see below).

Data stored on our servers

  • Your anonymous user ID and display name
  • The room you are in, your seat, and when you were last active
  • Your merit totals and level, by day, week and overall
  • Meditation sessions: start time, planned length, and your weekly and total minutes
  • Your activity in a room, such as offerings and bows, and any room you create, with its name and code

The servers also handle your IP address and basic technical details when your device connects, as any internet service does. Room activity entries are deleted after about one day.

What other people can see

Other people can see your display name, level and activity in your room, and your display name, level and scores on the leaderboards. Anyone with a room's code can join it, and your room's name is visible to its members.

Data kept on your device

Your settings, merit journal and meditation streak are stored on your device. The tilt effect in the temple uses your device's gyroscope on the device only, and this motion data is not sent or stored.

Usage analytics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used. It records events such as app opens, meditation sessions and their length, the scripture you choose, offerings, bows, and opening or sharing rooms and leaderboards. Firebase also collects details such as device model, OS version and approximate location by country, and uses identifiers such as a random app instance ID. On some devices these can include the device's advertising identifier. The app does not send your display name or room codes to analytics. We don't use this data for advertising and don't sell it. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Service providers

We use Supabase to run rooms and leaderboards, and Google (Firebase) for analytics. They may process data in countries other than your own.

Notifications

With your permission, the app schedules local notifications on your device for the end of a meditation session and, if you turn it on, a daily reminder at the time you choose. You can turn the daily reminder off in the app's menu. No notification data is sent to our servers.

Advertising and purchases

The app currently shows no ads and offers no in-app purchases.

Deleting your data

To remove data from your device, clear the app's data or uninstall it. Uninstalling does not remove data from our servers. To request that, email us at the address below with your display name and room code, and we will delete the matching data. Once your local data is gone, the app can't reconnect you to your old account, so please send your request before uninstalling if you can.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the matching data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
